When a person subscribes to a SAR Times newsletter, their account or subscriber record may remain active even if they do not open newsletters for an extended period.

If a subscriber does not open newsletters for a defined period, SAR Times may change that subscriber's email status to "do not send" or a similar suppression status in order to reduce mailing costs, improve list hygiene, and avoid sending unwanted messages. A "do not send" status does not necessarily mean the subscriber account is deleted. It means SAR Times may retain the subscriber record, consent history, and related administrative data while stopping routine newsletter delivery unless the subscriber later re-subscribes, updates preferences, or otherwise asks to resume emails.

Where required by applicable law, SAR Times will rely on consent, legitimate interests, contract, or other lawful bases for processing personal information.

For newsletter communications, SAR Times will keep records showing when and how a subscriber signed up, what they agreed to receive, and when they unsubscribed or changed preferences.

As of June 29, 2026, SAR Times uses an open-source analytics software (Umami) and Mailgun to send emails to subscribers.
